| Zion National Park, in southwest Utah, is one of the most beautiful parks I have visited in the American Southwest. Zion has some of the most memorable day hikes to be found anywhere in the region. Zion is the one place you absolutely should not miss on a trip to Utah. I have been to Zion in the winter and the spring and am always amazed by the breathtaking beauty of the area. | |||||||||||

The winters are usually mild in the Zion National Park area and the park is open to hiking year round. Check in at the visitor center during the winter to find out which trails are closed and icy on a day to day basis. If you like to see the parks from your car then winter is ideal. Zion National Park in the winter is absolutely gorgeous and the park never closes with the exception of the visitor center on Christmas day.
Zion changes with the seasons, from the cascades of snowmelt pouring over cliff walls in spring, to the colorful wildflowers of early summer, to the technicolor of autumn, and the deep silence and beauty of multicolored sandstone spires piled high with snow and ice. Southern Utah is bustling with activity in the summer when adventure seekers hit the multitude of hiking trails in the area. Many will hike or backpack deep in Utah Wilderness. Exploring the national parks and national monuments is the most popular tourist activity in the state and driving along the scenic byways and backways of Southern Utah is a favorite way to travel to the parks.
